April Memory Care Resident of the Month Mary Ann Rinker

We have the pleasure of introducing you to one of our cherished residents at Melody Living Memory Care: Mary Ann Rinker. We love getting to know each of our residents here at Melody Living and we hope you enjoy getting to know more about Mary. 

Born on August 29th, 1943, Mary Ann's life journey is marked by love, faith, and an unquenchable joy for life. Mary Ann hails from Boscobel, Wisconsin, before moving to Rhinelander, where she grew up among seven brothers and sisters. She attended Rhinelander High School before pursuing her passion for education at the University of Eau Claire, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1965.

While in college, Mary Ann worked as a switchboard operator. After graduation, she embarked on a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher, shaping the minds and hearts of countless children as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher in Madison, Wisconsin.

​In December 1967, Mary Ann married her beloved spouse, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and family. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful children: John David, Jennifer Jean, and Christina Maria.

Mary Ann's greatest accomplishment is her family. She finds immense joy in seeing her children and grandchildren love and serve the Lord, a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to her values.​

​With 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Mary Ann's legacy of love and faith continues to inspire generations.

Mary loved to bake delicious cinnamon rolls and bread for her family. Her favorite holiday is Thanksgiving for the amazing food and the time she gets to spend with her whole family. 

​Her favorite hobbies are scrapbooking, baking delicious cinnamon rolls and bread, and tending to her beloved garden and orchard. She also loved working with plants and kept the most beautiful garden and orchard.

​While she didn’t travel much throughout her life, she did take a trip to Israel and loved every second of it.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann volunteered at nursing homes, bringing joy to residents through singing, dancing, and loving interactions.

​Her infectious joy for life brightens every room she enters, leaving a lasting impression on all who have the pleasure of knowing her.

​Reflecting on pivotal moments, Mary Ann recalls growing up with a mother who had lived through the depression and the challenges of her husband's deployment to Vietnam while she cared for their young children at home.

Mary Ann's advice to others is simple yet profound: Put the Lord first, love your family well, and always be kind. 

Mary Ann and her family chose Melody Living for its attentive care, kind staff, and nurturing environment. Here, Mary Ann found a place where each resident is valued, loved, and nurtured. Her family shared, “We are so grateful for Melody Living! They are an answered prayer for our whole family.”
