Meet Melody Living’s Colorado Springs independent living resident of the month, Linda Levers! We love getting to know each of our residents here at Melody Living and we hope you enjoy getting to know more about Linda as our featured resident. Linda's roots trace back to Washington, Pennsylvania, where she spent her formative years. Linda's professional journey has been nothing short of adventurous. When she was still in Washington, PA she worked as the secretary for the Police Deptartment in the morning and then she was the secretary for the Mayor's office in the afternoon. When Linda lived in Turkey she worked as a telephone operator for the Embassy and the Turkish Air Force, she was also a telephone operator for the embassy in Israel. When she and her husband landed in Colorado, she pursued medical assistant training and dedicated 25 years to Penrose Hospital. Linda met her husband, Alan, when they were in band together in grade school, she was 12 and he was 14. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership, they got married when Linda was 18 and he was 20. Alan was in the Air Force and retired after 21 years of honorable service. Alan and Linda had 46 wonderful and adventurous years together. Linda has done a bit of traveling as her husband, Alan, had been stationed in many fun and interesting places including Alaska, Turkey, Ohio, Indiana, and Israel. Linda says they lived less than two blocks from the Mediterranean for two and a half years and when it was time to relocate they practically had to drag her away kicking and screaming. The couple explored the isles of Greece as well. After they left Israel they were stationed here in Colorado.
When Linda made the decision to move to Melody Living, she was drawn by the proximity to her daughter, the homey atmosphere, the pet-friendliness, and the warm welcome from Sebastian, who made her feel right at home. For Linda, the camaraderie at Melody Living is what makes it truly special. She has made many new friends since moving in almost two years ago. Linda says she believes it would be hard for people to believe she was shy before she came here, being at Melody Living has opened her up and allowed her to find new experiences.
Linda was also in the Soli Deo Gloria Choir for a dozen years when it was still brand new. She joined from an ad in the paper, it was free to be a member, and she didn't have to go through an audition process. As we celebrate Linda, we are reminded of the tapestry of stories that make Melody Living a place where individual journeys converge into a harmonious melody of life. We hope you join us and discover a Life in Harmony™ like Linda has with Melody Living independent living. To learn more, visit our contact page or call us at 719.900.1540. Comments are closed.
