December Memory Care Resident of the Month

​Meet Gwenita, who also goes by Gwen for short, Melody Living’s Colorado Springs memory care resident of the month! We love getting to know each of our residents here at Melody Living and we hope you enjoy getting to know more about Gwenita as our featured resident.
 
Gwen was born in Portland but grew up in Parkrose, Oregon. She went to Grant High School for two years, before transferring to Parkrose High School, where she received her high school diploma. She has three children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren whom she loves dearly. She was married twice throughout her life with both marriages lasting 23 years.

​She worked in sales at Home Interiors and Gifts where she achieved her greatest accomplishment of becoming a Sales Director. Gwen loves animals and shared that she enjoys traveling, and she has been known to have a good sense of humor. She currently doesn’t own any pets but once owned three Pomeranians and calico kittens. Gwen also used to ride horses.
 
Gwen has traveled around the world to Italy and Mexico. Her favorite place she’s been was Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. 

A pivotal moment in history for Gwen was the assassination of John F. Kennedy as the event was so tragic that it put a damper on her Christmas spirit, which is her favorite holiday.
 
Gwen’s son chose Melody Living for her as he felt it was the best fit for her needs. Her favorite things about living in this Colorado Springs retirement community are the variety of weekly activities that are available including being able to participate in her hobbies of floral arranging and word searches.
