Art can be used for passionate expression, it can be used for communication, and it can be used as an outlet for emotions. While not everyone may consider themselves an artist, art is a creative tool that can be done by anyone, in any form, at any time, and at any skill level. While the mediums used to create art vary vastly, our community is proud to offer the tools, resources and space for residents in our assisted living and memory care neighborhoods to use to their heart’s content. Our community life director regularly incorporates creativity into our community calendar and also ensures that the residents themselves have the opportunity to lead the way for their own creative expression. Whether hosting a painting class, creating crafts for holiday event festivities or using the onsite art studio to showcase feelings that may not be expressible with words, our community thrives on creativity. Studies show that art specifically is beneficial for people living with Dementia as it truly can become a way to share, communicate and express how they are feeling to others and themselves. As a part of our commitment to the Eight Dimensions of Wellness, we are proud to offer this amenity and a wide variety of services that address the importance of intellectual wellness through art. In addition to our art studio and workshops, we offer stimulating opportunities for intellectual
growth and lifelong learning in the arts, but also in exercise and continuing education. Our goal is to ensure new growth regardless of physical or cognitive challenges or abilities. After all, our job is to create a culture where our community members feel empowered to openly discover their potential while exploring new opportunities. Here are some of our favorite artistic celebrations for the month of April that residents can enjoy:
