Colorado Springs Independent Living Resident of the Month

​Meet Steve Rogers, Melody Living’s Colorado Springs independent living resident of the month! We love getting to know each of our residents here at Melody Living and we hope you enjoy getting to know more about Steve as our featured resident.
 
Steve Rogers grew up a self-appointed Air Force brat. He lived in several states throughout his life and has lived all up and down the Front Range. His many-times-great-grandparents settled in Greeley. Steve went to Lincoln High School in Denver in the late 60s and early 70s and he received a gymnastics scholarship to attend Greeley College.
 
He and his wife met while they were both attending Greeley College. They were both gymnasts and attended the same events and operated in the same circles. They got married when he was in graduate school for theoretical physics. Steve and his wife have two daughters and two grandchildren. He does not currently have any pets, but he has always had dogs over the years.

​He was just shy of obtaining his Ph.D. when he joined the workforce. He worked for the government on highly classified projects, including NORAD. Steve has also published a book, The Foundations of Natural Law: Unified Field Theory; through mathematical physics, he solved the unified field theory. Steve has a patent for something everyone uses every day to find their way around.
 
A pivotal moment in history that had an impact on Steve was 9/11. His favorite holiday is the 4th of July because loves the fireworks, celebrating freedom, and having friends over to enjoy BBQ. Steve is funny and likes to tell jokes to entertain his fellow residents and Melody Living staff. He always seems to have a positive or humorous spin on any interaction. He is humble about how smart he is, and he is very intelligent. Steve also enjoys taking time to do puzzles and he loves to travel.

Steve has visited every continent and his favorite travel stories include being able to visit the existing ancient wonders of the world. He’s been to Stonehenge, Petra, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Jerusalem, and Santorini Island where it is believed the lost city of Atlantis is.

One of his favorite trips was when he went to Cape Horn and saw the penguins on Falkland Island. He has fond memories of traveling through New England when the leaves were changing and has beautiful pictures of that trip. Another of Steve’s favorite experiences was witnessing the Northern Lights in Alaska.

​Steve chose Melody Living because he found that the retirement community had the best prices for rent in the area with all the amenities that were offered in comparison to other Colorado Springs retirement homes.

​He says his fellow residents in the community are fun and he likes that he gets to play games and make puzzles with his new neighbors. Steve also enjoys the delicious meals that the community’s gourmet chef cooks up each day.

Steve’s advice for others is to, “Stay out of trouble.”
