Move More with Melody Living

4/12/2023

Move More with Melody Living
The American Heart Association started Move More Month every April to promote heart health and encourage people to partake in physical activity more often. Staying active, especially as you age, can help to prevent injuries and other health risks associated with inactive lifestyles.

If you maintain a more sedentary lifestyle, the American Heart Association encourages you to take small steps toward being more active. Try stretching for at least 10 minutes a day or go for a walk around the block.

Moving more and staying active can have a positive effect on a multitude of health-related issues such as relieving stress, and lowering your risk of chronic illnesses such as depression and dementia.
Melody Living’s state-of-the-art fitness center and beautifully landscaped garden surrounding our walking paths makes it easy to stay active. For residents with more limited capabilities, we have onsite fitness experts to ensure every resident has access to Physical Wellness.

Taking a simpler approach with slow progressions and advancements will help you to maintain a consistent fitness routine. Making goals attainable and fun is the key way to maintaining those fitness goals.

Our partners at Paxxon Healthcare are on-site each week to lead exercise classes for residents.

If you think staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can seem boring, our Life Enrichment Directors integrate fun, active games into our social calendars each week to bring together residents for Social Wellness and a workout.

A fan favorite of many residents is Noodle Ball!

For many, getting a dog can be a great way to keep up physical activity. Melody Living’s assisted living and independent living communities are pet-friendly!

Adopting a dog is a great way to promote Emotional and Physical Wellness as you age. Plus it helps to ensure you get your steps in each day when you take your furry friend on their walk.

Maintaining Physical Wellness is just one part of the Eight Dimensions of Wellness that Melody Living encapsulates so that every resident can live a Life in Harmony™.
