National Senior Citizens Day - Ways to Celebrate

​August 21st is National Senior Citizens Day! Senior Citizens Day is a day for everyone to let our fellow senior citizens know how much we appreciate them and all they have done for us.
 
Take some time today to show your appreciation to the seniors in your life with these 3 tips!

3 Ways to Celebrate

1.  Learn about the seniors in your life! Take some time out of your day to spend a few hours with your favorite seniors. Whether you’re family, a neighbor, or friends, they’ll appreciate spending time with you. Tell stories with one another and ask about some of their favorite moments in life or life lessons they may have for your generation - there’s a lot to learn from those beyond our years.  
2. Volunteer at a retirement community. Not all of us are able to live near the seniors in our lives, and many seniors in your community may not have loved ones close by either. If you aren’t able to visit with a senior you know, visit one you don’t know! Call and ask if you can volunteer a few hours at a local retirement home near you.
3. Take advantage of discounts! One fun perk of becoming a senior citizen is all the great discounts now available. From local tourist attractions to travel opportunities, restaurants to retail; senior discounts are available at more locations than you may think.
