Rheumatoid Awareness Day

2/1/2023

Rheumatoid Awareness Day
February 2nd is Rheumatoid Awareness Day, the senior wellness observance was created by the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation to increase awareness of the struggle of dealing with daily pain and to teach people about the chronic disease.

Though commonly referred to by the public as “Rheumatoid arthritis”, arthritis is actually only one of the symptoms of Rheumatoid disease. Approximately 1% of the population live with Rheumatoid, equaling out to about 1.5 million people in the U.S.

Rheumatoid is an autoimmune disease that affects the body and may never go away. Rheumatoid can cause disabilities and negatively impact one’s daily life if not properly managed. The condition makes one’s body believe that joint linings are foreign tissue so the body attacks and damages the joint linings causing pain and inflammation.
Rheumatic diseases increase the risk of developing other diseases known as comorbidities. The most common form of comorbidity for a Rheumatic disease is cardiovascular issues, including heart attack, stroke, and congestive heart failure.

Melody Living’s 8 Dimensions of Wellness centers around creating wellness in all aspects of life for our senior retirement community residents. From engaging in physical activities fit for all capabilities, to creating meals adjusted to fit physician recommended meal plans, we maintain a whole person wellness approach.

Rheumatoid Awareness Day
By offering the reassurance and peace of mind of onsite licensed nursing care, we believe that both residents and their families can enjoy knowing that they can be as independent as desired with the comfort of having expert senior care available, if needed.
Rheumatoid Awareness Day
For our residents who may be dealing with Rheumatoid or other related health issues, we offer an onsite clinic and video enabled care-conference rooms for onsite or offsite medical consultations, as needed. Enjoy the comfort of your own longtime family physician or one of our onsite physicians - the choice is up to you and your loved one!
